TAME+

The Taking Action to Manage Energy (TAME+) program provides tools and funding to help municipalities understand how energy is used in their buildings, identify key savings opportunities, and implement retrofit projects.

Who can participate?
TAME+ is open to all Alberta municipalities.

How much funding is available?
Participants are eligible to receive an Energy Audit Incentive to offset the costs of required detailed energy audits and an Implementation Incentive to offset the costs of municipal building retrofits. Available funding is dependent on the total area of all buildings being retrofitted by a municipality.

Energy Audit Incentive:

Building Area Maximum Incentive
<2,000 m2 50% of energy audit costs up to $500 2,000 – 5,000 m2 50% of energy audit costs up to $1,000 5,000 – 10,000 m2 50% of energy audit costs up to $1,500 >10,000 m2 50% of energy audit costs up to $2,000

Implementation Incentive:

Building Area Maximum Incentive
<2,000 m2 50% of capital costs up to $25,000 2,000 – 5,000 m2 50% of capital costs up to $50,000 5,000 – 10,000 m2 50% of capital costs up to $75,000 >10,000 m2 50% of capital costs up to $100,000

Note: Funding is available on a first come, first served basis.

How do I apply?
Interested municipalities must complete the TAME+ Expression of Interest and email it to contact@mccac.ca.

Where do I find additional information?
For detailed information on eligibility requirements, available funding, and how to apply, please refer to the TAME+ Guidebook. For guidance on the Detailed Energy Assessment requirements, please see the Detailed Energy Assessment Guidance Document.

LED Lighting Retrofits

Why Your Project Needs A Light Efficient Design Retrofit
Lots of manufacturers are entering the LED market. But, with eight years as a pioneer in LEDs and the broadest array of state-of-the-art lighting products, Light Efficient Design is the premier source for cost-effective, high performance retrofits.

The Light Efficient Design Advantages:
• Keep Electronics Cool – The biggest enemy of the LED is heat dissipation. Light Efficient Design’s patented designs use a combination of active and passive cooling techniques, such as:
o Long-life “Mag-Lev” cooling fan
o Potted driver

The result: Light Efficient Design’s LEDs perform reliably inside a completely enclosed fixture at temperatures up to 122° Fahrenheit ambient. Most competitors can’t even come close.
• Best Quality Color Rendering – Light Efficient Design uses chips that have been independently tested and certified with LM-80 reports and high color-rendering index (CRI) – a rating unmatched by competitors. Our super-high CRI shows colors for what they are.
• Damp Rated – our lamps will perform in humid environments.
• Surge Protection – Light Efficient Design’s retrofits have dual stage MOVs that gobble up surges, protecting the electronics and keeping the lights on.

Program purpose statement

This program shares the cost of investments that improve energy efficiency on Alberta farms. This enables producers to conserve energy and reduce carbon emissions, ultimately reducing the environmental footprint of Alberta’s agriculture industry.

The Growing Forward 2 On-Farm Energy Management Program addresses three important industry priorities.

  1. Increased industry competitiveness. When producers make investments that improve energy usage on their farms, the result is a more competitive, adaptable, and sustainable provincial agriculture industry.
  2. Improved environmental stewardship. When producers use energy more efficiently, they are recognized as reliable stewards of Alberta’s resources.
  3. Improved energy management. Producers who install on-farm submeters are better aware of their energy usage and how to manage it to improve their bottom line.

Additional Site Sheets

The program provides funding towards solar photovoltaics on Alberta farms. This enables producers to conserve non-renewable fossil fuels and reduce carbon emissions, ultimately reducing the environmental footprint of Alberta’s agriculture industry.

The Growing Forward 2 Solar Photovoltaics Program addresses two important industry priorities:

  1. Improved environmental stewardship. When producers make investments in clean energy and reduced carbon emissions, they are recognized for their commitment to sustainable practices.
  2. Improved energy management. Producers who install photovoltaic systems tend to take a renewed interest in their electricity usage; this leads to additional efficiency investments.
